The LD occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 1370 metres on a northeast-facing slope, south of Godey Creek and approximately 2 kilometres north- northeast of the peak of Iron Mountain.

The western belt of the Upper Triassic Nicola Group consists mainly of an east- to southeast-facing sequence of calc-alkaline flows grading upward into pyroclastics, epiclastic sediments and abundant limestone.

The occurrence area is underlain by volcanic sandstone to siltstone and tuff. Bedding strikes northwest to northeast and dips steeply to the south. The LD occurrence comprises a trench exposing a barite vein with galena, sphalerite, malachite and azurite.

Another zone of mineralization, located approximately 100 to 200 metres north of the LD zone, comprises a 5- to 10-metre wide and 75-metre-long zone of silica flooding and quartz veining with later quartz±carbonate veinlets with limonite and trace chalcopyrite and galena.

A third zone of mineralization is reported approximately 500 metres north of the first zone and comprises a shear/fault zone, striking 320 degrees and dipping 85 degrees southwest, hosting a 1.3-metre-wide quartz-chalcopyrite-specularite vein with malachite-azurite staining.

In 1981, a sample (SM-198) from a trench assayed greater than 1.00 per cent lead and zinc each (Assessment Report 10114).

In 1984, rock samples from the LD occurrence area yielded values of up to 0.324 per cent copper, 59.4 grams per tonne silver and 2.96 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 12860).

In 1989, a select sample (14935) from the LD occurrence yielded 0.90 per cent lead, 1.35 per cent zinc and 27.9 grams per tonne silver, whereas a chip sample (14936), taken several hundred metres to the north, yielded 1.15 per cent copper over 1.8 metres (Assessment Report 18888).

In 2010, a select grab sample (LD-03-06-10-2) from the LD occurrence yielded 1.13 per cent lead, 2.31 per cent zinc and 7.1 grams per tonne silver, whereas a chip sample (LD-03-06-10-1) from the third zone of mineralization yielded 2.17 per cent copper, 16.5 grams per tonne silver and 0.301 gram per tonne gold over 1.3 metres (Assessment Report 32183).

In 2020, three samples (B829272, B829273 and B829279) from the LD occurrence area and to the east-northeast of the occurrence yielded from 1.9 to 81.5 grams per tonne silver, trace to 0.88 per cent copper, 0.20 to 0.55 per cent lead and 0.25 to 0.75 per cent zinc (Besserer, D. [2021-05-21]: NI 43-101 Technical Report for the Comstock Property, Nicola Valley, South-Central Interior of British Columbia).

Work History

The area has been explored in conjunction with the nearby Leadville (MINFILE 092ISE052) occurrence and a complete exploration history can be found there.
