The RWS showing is located at an elevation of approximately 1240 metres on an east-southeast–facing slope, north of Rey Creek and west of the south end of Mamit Lake.
The area is underlain by andesite agglomerate, tuffs and basalts of the Upper Triassic Nicola Group, immediately east of their contact with the Upper Triassic to Lower Jurassic Guichon Creek Batholith.
Locally, well-developed shear zones contain pyrite, minor chalcopyrite, quartz, calcite, hematite, chlorite and sericite in an altered andesite. The sulphide mineralization occurs as small fracture fillings and as blotches and blebs in the altered andesite. The shear zone trends north-northwest and has been traced for several hundred metres.
In 1970, samples over 2.5 to 20 centimetres of drillcore yielded from 0.79 to 2.16 per cent copper, whereas a select sample from a hand trench yielded 1.52 per cent copper (Property File 10616).
Another zone of mineralization is reported approximately 2.1 kilometres north-northeast of the RWS occurrence on the Lucky 3 claim and comprises a sheared greenstone with traces of molybdenite(?).
Work History
In 1966, Lodestar Mines Ltd. completed a program of geological mapping and soil sampling on the area as the Lucky, Roc and Zowie claims.
In 1970, Exel Explorations Ltd. completed a program of geological mapping, shallow diamond drilling and a 67.0 line-kilometre ground magnetic survey on the area as the RWS claims.
In 1995, a magnetic survey was completed on the area as the HS claims of the Garthwaite property.
During 2011 through 2016, Plate Resources Corp. completed programs of geological mapping, geochemical (rock and soil) sampling, airborne and ground geophysical surveys and diamond drilling on the area as apart of the Lucky Mike property.
