The Hat-Outrider occurrence is located north of Witches Brook and approximately 3.5 kilometres east of the Bethlehem Copper (MINFILE 092ISE001) pit.
The area is in the north eastern part of the Lower Jurassic Guichon Creek Batholith. The property is generally covered by thick overburden. Scattered outcrop indicates the area is underlain by Guichon variety quartz diorite and granodiorite.
Locally, minor chalcopyrite mineralization is associated with younger porphyritic rocks, which intrude the Guichon quartz diorite. Alteration consists of chlorite and kaolinite in zones of shearing. Several areas of mineralization are reported on the Hat 4 and 6, Outrider 26 and Bud Fraction claims.
In 1955 and 1956, Farwest Tungsten Copper Mines completed programs of prospecting and trenching and a 32.6 line-kilometre ground magnetic survey on the area as the Hat and Outrider claims. In 1958, Northwestern Explorations completed an 18.0 line-kilometre induced polarization survey. This work identified an anomalous zone to the south west on the Outrider 8 and 31 claims. In 1967, Cominco completed a 9.6 line-kilometre induced polarization survey. In 1994, Highland Valley Copper completed a 58.6 line-kilometre induced polarization survey on the area.
