The Joy 1 occurrence is located 1.7 kilometres northeast of Cinder Hill and 800 metres south of the Glossie mineralization zone (MINFILE 0921NW011).
The area lies within the Upper Triassic to Lower Jurassic Guichon Creek Batholith.
Locally, mineralization is hosted in granodiorite and is associated with strong shearing and chlorite, K-feldspar and minor sericite alteration. Chalcopyrite, bornite, chalcocite and malachite occur in quartz-tourmaline-chlorite veins that strike from 290 to 295 degrees and dip 80 degrees north. These veins are similar and parallel to the main vein at the Glossie (MINFILE 092INW011) occurrence, which is located approximately 750 metres to the north.
Work History
In 1969, Continental Cinch Mines Ltd. established a grid and conducted geological mapping, soil sampling and a magnetometer and induced polarization survey. In 1973, Quintana Minerals Corporation, on behalf of Continental Cinch Mines Ltd., conducted geological mapping, drill access road construction, 2 diamond drill holes, totalling 533 metres, and 10 percussion drill holes, totalling 838 metres
In 2004, Getty Copper Inc. completed a drilling and drill geochemical sampling program on the Getty Copper property. A total of 3984.1 metres of drilling was completed and 257 core samples were submitted for assay.
In 2017, an airborne magnetic survey was completed by Peter E. Walcott & Associates Limited over the Getty property. The survey comprised 697 line-kilometres of heliborne magnetics over two grid areas designed to define previously observed anomalies and cover newly staked claims at the eastern boundary of the historic Getty property.
In 2019, a direct current resistivity survey and a passive seismic survey were completed by Peter E. Walcott & Associates Limited at multiple locations on the Getty property. The resistivity survey totalled 2.7 line-kilometres and identified a north-trending structure that extends south towards the Glossie showing. A 1.6 line-kilometre direct current resistivity survey was conducted near the Joy 1 (MINFILE 092INW029), Glossie (MINFILE 092INW011) and Blu (MINFILE 092INW030) showings. In addition, the company completed 2D and 3D inversions of historical data over the Glossie showing of the Getty property.
In 2020, Peter E. Walcott & Associates Limited carried out a review of historical induced polarization data taken from portions of the Getty property. No interpretations are presented because the work is part of a detailed compilation that was still ongoing at the time of writing.
