The Shovelnose East occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 1470 metres on a southeast-facing slope in the northern headwaters of Spearing Creek and approximately 1.4 kilometres southeast of the peak of Shovelnose Mountain.
The area is underlain by intermediate volcanics and minor intrusives of the Upper Triassic Nicola Group; andesite flows, volcaniclastics, crystal lithic tuffs and rhyolite flows of the Lower Cretaceous Spences Bridge Group and basalt flows of the Eocene Princeton Group. Normal faulting along the north to northeast- and northwest-trending structures offset the Nicola and Spences Bridge Group rocks.
Locally, a rhyolite lapilli tuff hosts small veinlets of quartz-chalcedony and local quartz flooding with associated gold values.
In 2019, a rock sample (Q979413) assayed 0.494 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 39065).
