The Trout 3 occurrence is 1.3 kilometres west of Galena Creek and 1.3 kilometres north-northeast of Galena Lake.
Minor amounts of pyrite and molybdenite occur in strongly fractured porphyritic quartz monzonite of the Middle Jurassic Osprey Lake Batholith. Moderate sericite and chlorite alteration, and abundant pyrolusite and limonite accompany this mineralization.
In 1987, a rock sample (80R) of oxidized and silicified granite, located a short distance down slope and southeast of the occurrence yielded 17.3 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 16644).
Work History
In 1980 and 1981, Cominco Ltd. completed programs of prospecting, geological mapping and soil sampling on the area as the Trout claims.
The area immediately west of the occurrence has been explored as part of the Elk (MINFILE 092HNE096) occurrence and a complete exploration summary of the area can be found there.
