The Trout 1 occurrence is 2.5 kilometres south-southeast of Boulder Lake and 2.0 kilometres northeast of Siwash Lake.
Minor amounts of pyrite and molybdenite occur in strongly fractured porphyritic quartz monzonite of the Middle Jurassic Osprey Lake batholith. Moderate sericite and chlorite alteration, and abundant pyrolusite and limonite accompany this mineralization.
