Capsule Geology

This Buck occurrence is located approximately 950 metres northwest of Siwash Creek, 2.3 kilometres northeast of the north end of Vincent Lake and 41.5 kilometres north-northeast of Princeton.

The occurrence is hosted in altered volcanic breccias and flows of the Upper Triassic Nicola Group. Secondary minerals include pink feldspar, epidote and chlorite. The alteration is believed to be due to the emplacement of the nearby Middle Jurassic Osprey Lake batholith to the east (Assessment Report 4552).

Locally, sporadic chalcopyrite mineralization, occasionally accompanied by pyrite and magnetite, is localized along fractures in a northeast- trending zone, 840 metres long and up to 270 metres wide.

Work History

In 1972 and 1973, Great Plains Development Company of Canada Ltd. completed programs of geological mapping, geochemical (silt and soil) sampling and 62.0 line-kilometres of ground electromagnetic and magnetic surveys on the area as the Buck group of claims.

In 1981, Inter-Continental Energy Corp. completed a program of geological mapping, geochemical (rock and soil) sampling and ground magnetic, electromagnetic and induced polarization surveys on the area immediately west of the occurrence as the Late claims.

During 1986 through 1991, Fairfield Minerals Ltd. completed reconnaissance programs of rock, silt and soil sampling on the area as the Vin 1-19 claims.

Also, during the mid 1980s through 2000s the area immediately east of the occurrence was explored in conjunction with the nearby Elk (092HNE096) occurrence and a complete exploration history of the area can be found there.

In 2012, Victory Resources Corp. completed a program of photogeological structural (lineament) analysis on the area as the Toni property.

In 2019, a 1108 line-kilometre airborne magnetometer survey was completed on the Elk Gold property. In late 2020 and early 2021, Gold Mountain Mining Corp. completed 42 diamond drill holes on the Elk Gold property. This work centred on the 2500 zone and adjacent veins of the Siwash North (MINFILE 092HNE096) deposit.
