The KR occurrence is located west of Handsome Lake on the lower north eastern slopes of Lucky Mountain. The showing has been explored in conjunction with the nearby Toq (MINFILE 092F 542) and Lucky (MINFILE 092F 034) occurrences. A complete exploration history can be found there.
The area is underlain by Upper Triassic mafic volcanics of the Karmutsen Formation, Vancouver Group. These have been intruded by granodiorites of the Jurassic Island Plutonic Suite.
Locally, intermediate to felsic siliceous volcanic rocks with minor flow banding host sphalerite and chalcopyrite mineralization in a quartz "blowout". Pyrite and chalcopyrite are also commonly found in area volcanics. A rock sample (28) assayed 3.34 per cent zinc and 0.05 per cent copper (Assessment Report 12813).
In 1983 and 1984, Victoria Resources completed program of rock and silt sampling on the area as the KR and KO claims. In 1985, Falconbridge optioned the property and completed a program of reconnaissance stream sampling on the area. In 1988, Freemont Gold Corp. acquired the property and completed programs of geochemical sampling and ground geophysical surveys. In 1996 and 1997, Consolidated Logan Mines Ltd. completed programs of geochemical sampling and a high resolution helicopter magnetic survey on the area as apart of the Lucky Project. In 2009 through 2011, Electrum Resources completed programs of geochemical sampling and geological mapping on the Lucky property.
