The Great Expectations showing is located near the mouth of the Little Toquart River, approximately 1.2 kilometres north west of Toquart Bay.
Locally, two adjacent quartz veins hosting chalcopyrite and bornite have been explored by a tunnel, driven on the veins for a length of at least 35 metres. A 46 centimetre wide vein is visible for 13 metres at the beginning of the tunnel, after which the vein turns into the hangingwall and the tunnel does not follow it. The tunnel proceeds in the original direction picking up the second vein, which is up to 1.2 metres in width. Both veins appear to strike at 075 degrees. The wallrocks are diabase (basalt) of the Upper Triassic Karmutsen Formation, Vancouver Group.
During 1995 through 2009, Consolidated Logan Mines Limited and later Logan Resources Limited, completed programs of prospecting, geological mapping, geochemical sampling and an induced polarization survey on the Lucky and Redford properties. Vancouver Group.
