The Comet Mountain area is underlain by massive, fractured chloritic amygdaloidal basalt of the Upper Triassic Karmutsen Forma- tion (Vancouver Group). Pervasive manganese and hematitic staining and some epidote is evident in the fractures. Minor small, disconti- nuous quartz and calcite veinlets and lenses are found throughout mineralized with pyrite, chalcopyrite and some malachite staining. Wallrock basalt is locally silicified. A rock chip sample from a small quartz lense assayed 0.3 per cent copper (Assessment Report 12085).
