The Nugget occurrence is located on the north side of a ridge separating Monashee and Yeoward creeks, approximately 2.5 kilometres southwest of Yeoward Mountain.
The area is underlain by Upper Triassic to Lower Jurassic Nicola Group sedimentary and volcanic rocks consisting of schist, phyllites, tuffs and rhyodacite.
Locally, silicified zones with quartz stringers and veins, up to 1.5 metres wide, host galena, sphalerite, arsenopyrite and chalcopyrite with possible chalcocite, cerussite and tetrahedrite mineralization.
In 1978, a sample of mineralized quartz vein material assayed 0.2 gram per tonne gold, 129.6 grams per tonne silver and 3.35 per cent lead (Assessment Report 7005). In 1995, a sample (6W 4980N) assayed 0.487 per cent copper, 2.06 per cent lead, 0.474 per cent antimony, 149.5 grams per tonne silver and 0.53 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 24236).
In 1998, diamond drilling, approximately 400 metres to the northeast, intercepted a quartz -veined tuff with pyrrhotite-pyrite mineralization and sericite alteration that yielded up to 0.55 gram per tonne gold over 2.5 metres (Assessment Report 25805). Previous surface sampling, in1996, of the site yielded 0.104 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 24670).
Work History
The area has been historically explored in conjunction with the nearby Fox (MINFILE 082LSE020) occurrence. A shaft of unknown age is reported in the area. During 1970 through 1974, programs of prospecting, soil sampling, trenching and an unknown amount of diamond drilling were completed on the area by D. C. King as the Fox claims. In 1978, Murray Ranking Developments completed a program of soil sampling program on the area as the Verna and Nugget claims. In 1983, Nakusp Resources completed a program of silt and soil sampling on the area immediately east as the J-One and Mac claims. Also in 1983, a heavy mineral study was completed on the Kelly claims, immediately southwest of the Fox showings, by C. F. Mineral Research Ltd. for David King. In 1993, a program of geological mapping, rock sampling and an 8.7 line-kilometre ground geophysical survey were conducted in this area by James McLeod for Harold Arnold as the Nugget and Monashee Gold claims. In 1994, Carbon Reef Resources completed a program of soil sampling, geological mapping and a 2.7 line-kilometre ground geophysical survey on the area as the Yeoward Mountain Gold property. During 1995 through 1998, programs of rock sampling, geological mapping and self-potential surveys were completed immediately to the northwest on the Nugget claim. In 2017, Eagle Plains Resources Ltd. completed a program of soil sampling and a 470 line-kilometre airborne magnetic survey on the area as the Donna property. The following year, Pinnacle North Gold Corp. completed a minor program of soil and rock sampling on the property.
