Capsule Geology

The property is located south of Estekwalan Mountain, approximately 6.3 kilometres west of Falkland at an elevation of 1250 metres above sea level.

Regionally, the area is underlain by Quesnellia Terrane and is bordered by sediments and volcanics of the Upper Triassic to Lower Jurassic Nicola Group to the east. To the north, Eocene volcanics and sediments are present. Large faults are common in the area.

Locally, a lake sediment-tuff sequence, covered by what could be a volcanic glass or a perlitic breccia is exposed. The beds are up to 50 metres thick, over 750 metres long and over 200 metres wide. The sediments are largely mordenite along with some clinoptillite. Opal has also been noted interbedded in the zeolites.

In 1997, a resource of more than three million tonnes, of various grades, of zeolite had been established (Assessment Report 25071).
