The MW occurrence east of Burnett Creek, approximately 3 kilometres north of Reade Lake.
The area is underlain by mid-Proterozoic (Helikian) Aldridge Formation (Purcell Supergroup) quartzites, greywackes and argillites. These have been intruded by dioritic sills of the Proterozoic Moyie Intrusions.
Locally, a linear, silicified-limonitic breccia zone, greater than 250 metres wide and associated with a northeast striking, moderately southeast-dipping fault zone, hosts quartz veins with pyrite and hematite.
In 2003, a rock sample (MW123) from trench 5 assayed 3.62 grams per tonne gold, whereas a 30- centimetre chip sample (MW120) assayed 41.7 grams per tonne silver and 1.67 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 27345). Another sample (T32-03 from trench 32) of quartz vein material assayed 0.130 per cent lead, 0.128 per cent zinc, 85.2 grams per tonne silver and 3.65 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 27345).
In 2004, diamond drilling (Hole MW-04-03) intersected 0.7 metre yielding 0.55 gram per tonne gold and 0.15 metre yielding 0.173 per cent lead, 58.8 grams per tonne silver and 0.30 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 27686).
In 1968 and 1969, Imperial Oil completed a program of gravity, electromagnetic and magnetic surveys on the area as the Kim claims. In 1974 and 1975, Imperial Oil completed three diamond drill holes, totalling 357.0 metres. In the mid 1970’s, Esso Minerals controlled a large block of claims in the area. They conducted ground geophysical surveys and drilled several holes searching for base metals. In the mid- to late 1980’s, Normine Resources Ltd. controlled ground in the northeast portion of the MW claims and did ground geophysics and diamond drilling. Some of their drilling intersected anomalous gold mineralization. During 1986 through 1990, Victoria Resources Corp. completed exploration programs of soil and rock sampling, electromagnetic and magnetic geophysical surveying, geological mapping and 27 percussions drill holes, totalling 222.0 metres, on the area as the Pine claims. In 1996, Sedex Mining Corp. drilled one hole to follow up on the anomalous gold mineralization first encountered by Normine Resources Ltd. In 2003, Sedex Mining and Super Group Holdings completed a program of rock and soil sampling, geological mapping, trenching and a 77.0 line-kilometre electromagnetic survey on the area as the MW claims. The following year, six diamond drill holes, totalling 452.3 metres, were completed. In 2010, Kootenay Gold completed a program of rock sampling and geological mapping on the area as the GCP claims. In 2012, Fjordland Exploration completed three diamond drill holes, totalling 592.8 metres, an 11.8 line-kilometre magnetic survey and a 118.0 line-kilometre induced polarization survey on the area.
