The Lakit showing is located approximately 30 kilometres east-northeast of Kimberley and 26 kilometres north of Cranbrook.
Regionally, the area is underlain by Helikian sedimentary and volcanic rocks of the Purcell Supergroup. Locally, the occurrence is underlain by argillites, siltstones and quartzites of the Helikian Aldridge Formation (Purcell Supergroup). On the ridges of Lakit Mountain, numerous off-white to pale-grey short quartz stringers intrude all rock types. The veins are up to 0.75 metre wide, strike generally north-northwest and dip approximately 75 degrees west.
A hand-dug trench approximately 6 metres long and 1 metre wide is located on the Kit property. The trench wallrock is a brown, fine- to medium-grained argillite. Dump material adjacent to the trench consists of shattered white quartz with abundant galena occurring as medium to large blebs and fracture-fillings.
Exposed in this trench is galena/argentlte-bearing quartz. Grab samples LM-2 and LM-3 graded 77.05 per cent lead and 62.23 per cent lead, and 986.75 grams per tonne silver and 1068.34 grams per tonne silver, respectively. Evidence of vein continuity was discovered during the 1990 exploration program when float (sample K-90-1) located 75 metres south along strike of the trench structure assayed 1.6 per cent lead and 44.57 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Reports 19203 and 20442).
The Kit claims were staked in 1988 by Tim Termuende.
In 1988 and 1989, Little Bear Resources and Tim Termuende completed soil and rock sampling and an EM geophysical survey. Prospecting and geochemical soil sampling revealed several anomalous areas.
In 1990, Omega Gold Corp. acquired the claims and collected a total of 28 silt, 460 soil, and 11 rock samples on the southern half of the Kit claim group (Assessment Report 20442).
In 1991, Omega Gold Corp. optioned the property to SCC Resources Inc. who then completed soil and rock sampling and geophysical surveys. They collected 676 soil samples and 15 rock samples.
In 1992, Akiko Gold Corp. assumed ownership of the Kit property from Omega Gold Corp. This did not affect the option agreement with SCC Resources Inc. Later in the year, SCC Resources Inc. completed road work, trenching and limited sampling.
In 1993 SCC Resources Inc. transferred its interest in the KIT property to Wild Horse Resources Inc., who maintained the option agreement with Akiko Gold Corp. Later in 1993, Wild Horse Resources conducted geological and geophysical fieldwork on the Bird-Dog grid area as well as grid establishment followed by geological and geophysical surveying in the Ford area. Prospecting and stream-sediment sampling was carried out in the northern part of the property. Subsequent to ground surveys within the Ford vein area, 322 metres diamond-drilling in 4 holes were completed from two set-ups in 1994 (Assessment Report 23357). Copper, silver, and lead mineralization was intersected at depth, but widths and metal values were considered insufficient to warrant further work.
