The Bluestone vein is a northeast trending quartz vein along a fault plane and is similar to the parallel veins at the Reno mine (082FSW036). Quartz is the gangue with ore consisting of some visible gold with disseminated pyrite. A geological cross-section by Starr (1940) shows two adits driven at 060 degrees into the western limb of the western anticline. The upper and lower adits start in argillite of the Lower Cambrian Reno Formation (correlative with Hamill Group rocks) and after about 65 and 130 metres, respectively, they enter quartzite of the Navada Member of the Lower Cambrian Quartzite Range Formation (correlative with rocks of the Hamill Group). The upper and lower adits remain in the Navada Member for about 45 and 140 metres, respectively, whereupon they re-enter Reno Formation argillites on the anticline's eastern limb. It is within the quartzites of the Nevada Member that the ore veins occur.

The property has belonged to Reno Gold Mines and the Gold Belt Mining Co. at various times but little specific information is recorded regarding grades and production, which is included with those mines. The Bluestone vein was not as productive as other related veins in the area. The tonnage mined to December 31, 1951 was 3174 tonnes, from which 40435 grams of gold was recovered (Bulletin 31, page 52).

Refer to the Reno mine for a summary of the Sheep Creek mining camp.

In 1984, Goldrich Resources Inc. completed a program of soil sampling and ground magnetometer and VLF-EM surveys on the area.

In 1987, Lightning Minerals Inc. completed a program of underground rehabilitation, mapping and rock sampling of the accessible underground workings. Four diamond drill holes, totalling 1268 metres, were completed on the Rhomberg Fraction claim which intercepted the main Bluestone vein and, widely spaced from it, both a hangingwall vein and a footwall vein. Hanging wall vein intersections ranged from 0.51 gram per tonne gold over 0.3 metres to 2.4 grams per tonne gold over 1.3 metres and 0.17 gram per tonne gold over 0.3 metre to 7.58 grams per tonne gold over 0.5 metres from footwall vein intersections, while intersections of the main Bluestone vein yielded from 0.55 gram per tonne gold over 0.9 metre to the deepest intersection of 5.01 grams per tonne gold over 0.6 metres (Lane, R.A. (2017-08-17): NI 43-101 Technical Report on the Sheep Creek Project).

During 2008 through 2016, Yellowstone Resources Ltd. examined the area as the Sheep Creek property. In late 2016, Margaux Resources Ltd. optioned the property and in 2017 examined the area.
