The Birdie L. occurrence is located on the north side of Perry Creek, approximately 1 kilometre northeast of its junction with Sawmill Creek.
Regionally, the area is underlain by mid-Proterozoic rocks of the Aldridge, Creston and Kitchener formations (Purcell Supergroup). These are intruded by mid-Proterozoic diorite and gabbro sills and dikes of the Moyie Intrusions. Cretaceous quartz monzonite and granodiorite stocks occur just off the property to both the east and the west.
Locally, irregular quartz veins occur in sheared and faulted argillaceous quartzites and quartz phyllite of the mid-Proterozoic (Helikian) Creston Formation (Purcell Supergroup). They are commonly well mineralized with galena, sphalerite, pyrite and native gold. Minor malachite is also reported on weathered surfaces.
In 1980, a sample (4010) from the upper dump assayed 0.9 gram per tonne gold, while another sample (4011) from the middle dump assayed 0.4 gram per tonne gold, 21.2 grams per tonne silver and 0.47 per cent lead (Assessment Report 8598).
In 1983, a dump sample (83109) assayed 0.63 per cent lead, 28.0 grams per tonne silver and 13.1 grams per tonne gold, while a 0.14-metre chip sample (83111) from a quartz vein assayed 0.7 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 11802).
The area has been historically explored by and number of trenches and two former adits or shafts. In 1978, Meridian Resources completed a program of geochemical sampling and geological mapping on the area. During 1979 through 1985, Gallant Gold Mines completed programs of rock, soil and silt sampling, trenching, geological mapping and ground electromagnetic and magnetic surveying on the area as the Perry Creek property. In 1987, Chapleau Resources completed a program of soil, silt and rock sampling, trenching and geological mapping on the area as the Racki claims, Morgan property. In 1991, a 2.8 line-kilometre ground electromagnetic survey was completed on the area as the Mill claims. In 1996, Klondike Reef Mines completed five diamond drill holes, totalling 592.8 metres, on the area.
