Capsule Geology

The Gramby showing area is underlain by rock of the Triassic Brooklyn Formation. A 60 metre long trench and shaft waste dump expose intensely retrograde altered skarn. Epidote and chlorite are most common. Locally massive magnetite occurs with epidote and granular clots of chalcopyrite and lesser pyrite. Late, earthy red hematite overprints the skarn. Brown garnet is present only in limited amounts due to the nearly complete retrograde destruction of early skarn. The large amount of chlorite with the epidote suggests the original skarn may have contained abundant pyroxene. The protolith to skarn, as exposed in the trench, may be the tuffaceous rocks found higher on Thimble Mt., or some other fine grained clastic rock.

In 1992, a select grab sample of massive epidote-magnetite-chlorite skarn with hematite and minor pyrite-chalcopyrite assayed 35 grams per tonne gold, 7.8 grams per tonne silver and 0.3 per cent copper (Caron, L. (2010-07-09): National Instrument 43-101 Technical Report on the Eholt Property).

In 2009, nine select grab samples yielded up to 1.59 grams per tonne gold, 58.1 grams per tonne silver, 4.3 per cent copper and 0.43 per cent zinc (Caron, L. (2010-07-09): National Instrument 43-101 Technical Report on the Eholt Property).

Ettlinger described the mineralization on the property in 1991 for Orvana Resources which included the Sailor Boy claim. Forty two rock outcrop samples and one stream silt sample were collected for geochemical analysis on the large property which covers several historic showings. See Sailor Boy (082ESE077) and Seattle (082ESE158) for further details of property history.

In 2006, 12221998 Alberta Ltd. optioned the Eholt property from J.W. Carson and completed a program of prospecting, rock sampling, geological mapping, soil sampling and airborne geophysics. In 2007, the property was optioned by Knob Hill Silver Inc. and a program of soil geochemistry and trenching was completed. In 2010, Knob Hill Silver Inc. was acquired by Range Capital Corp. and later changed their name to Open Gold Corp. In 2011, Open Gold Corp. completed 1795.94 metres of diamond drilling on the area as the Eholt property.
