The Blue Dome occurrence is located west of the Blue River, about 128 kilometres north of the community of Dease Lake.

Small pods of molybdenite were noted at two locations within quartz monzonite of the Early Cretaceous Cassiar batholith, near its contact with the Permian Blue River ultramafic body (Slide Mountain Complex). Although these pods contain up to 5 per cent molybdenite, they do not exceed 1 metre in length (Geological Survey of Canada Paper 64-48).
