The Ram occurrence is located between Swift Lake in the west and Mount Francis in the east, about 108 kilometres east of the community of Atlin.
A shear zone contains chalcopyrite, native gold, and tellurides hosted in quartzite of the Paleozoic Big Salmon Complex. The mineralization is assumed to be in a quartz vein within the shear zone.
In 1971, Nizi Zinc and Metal Mining Limited conducted a soil and silt survey (800 samples) and trenching (18 metres). In 1972, J. Altenburg completed 10 kilometres of line cutting. No further work was reported until 1979 when drillhole 1979-1 was completed to a depth of 442 metres by Rebel Developments Ltd. with two copper intersections below 300 metres averaging 0.49 per cent over 3.0 metres and 0.22 per cent over 6.7 metres. In 1981, Rebel Developments drilled hole 1981-1 to a depth of 457 metres. It was drilled at the northwest end of an induced polarization anomaly and intersected 27.6 metres (106.6 - 134.2 metres) of moderate to heavy sulphides with 0.20 per cent copper over the first 15.15 metres and 0.05 per cent copper over the final 12.45 metres of the sulphide-rich interval. In 1987, the Ram property was staked for Amber Minerals Ltd. and acquired by Arnica Resources Ltd. from L. Mikulic by agreement dated December 31, 1987. In 1988, Shangri-La Minerals Limited completed a geological, geophysical and geochemical exploration program on the property and in 1989, Amber Minerals Ltd. completed a prospecting program on the property. In 1990, Arnica Resources Ltd. retained Peter Christopher & Associates Inc. to conduct expanded grid coverage and prospecting. The 1990 work program consisting of geological mapping, geochemical sampling, VLF-EM and magnetic surveys and limited hand trenching in old trenches. Geochemical and geophysical surveys were conducted over extensions of the 1988 grid area and along 1.6 kilometres of line. A total of about 15.4 line kilometres of grid was established and a soil and rock geochemical program was conducted over the grid area with a total of 18 rock samples and 242 soil samples. Rock samples were collected mainly from Trench 3, old diamond-drill
holes, and prospect sites. A Geonics EM-16 electromagnetic and Scintrex MP-2 proton magnetometer were used to survey about 15.4 kilometres.
