Capsule Geology

The Lum occurrence is located on the southeastern shore of Tagish Lake, approximately 150 metres southwest of the Wann River mouth.

The area is underlain by the Upper Triassic Stuhini Group and the Devonian to Triassic Boundary Ranges Metamorphic Suite which are intruded by Early Cretaceous diorite.

Locally, a biotite-plagioclase-quartz schist hosts weak quartz stockwork with chalcopyrite, galena, sphalerite, malachite, and pyrite.

In 2009, a sample (9BCRWR05R) collected from old trenches assayed 43.5 grams per tonne gold, 296 grams per tonne silver, and 4.30 per cent lead (Pautler, J. (2010-08-30): Technical Report on the Wann River Project within the Tagish Lake Group [Whine, Tagish #1, 5 & 6, Lower Engineer 1 & 2, Wann #1, Tagish Lake Southwest Claims]).

In 2010, samples of dump tailings assayed up to 263 grams per tonne gold, 1350 grams per tonne silver, 4.15 per cent copper, 1.36 per cent zinc, and 4.45 per cent lead. Sample E83351 returned these values, except for lead and zinc, the former at 3.46 per cent and the latter insignificant (Assessment Report 32004).

In 2011, Blind Creek Resources drillhole WR-05-01-11 was the only hole drilled into the Lum area. Unaltered diorite was intersected at the top and bottom of the hole with schist between the diorite. Weak sulphides were reported.

See Brown (104M 026) for related details of the work history and geology of the Wann River area.
