The Lagavulin area is underlain by feldspar-quartz-biotite-phyric diorite of the Late Cretaceous of the Windy Table Complex (Thorn Stock), which intrudes Upper Triassic Stuhini Group volcanic and sedimentary rocks. A second Late Cretaceous magmatic event deposited subaerial volcanic rocks of the Windy Table Suite nonconformably upon the Thorn Stock, coeval with a second stage of plutonism.

The Lagavulin Vein is a newly recognized major fault/vein structure which strikes oblique to the Camp Creek Corridor. It is exposed near the mouth of Eye Creek and trends parallel to this drainage towards the I Zone to the north. Southward, the vein trends towards strongly mineralized float boulders east of the B Zone in an area with no exposure and towards the Cardhu Vein west of La Jaune Creek. The Lagavulin Vein occurs as a continuous fault/vein structure from the I Zone to the Cardhu Vein (a distance of 1400 metres).

The Cardhu Vein is a poorly exposed sulphide/sulphosalt vein discovered in 2002 southwestern contact of the Thorn Stock, south of Spike Creek. Its width is not clear, but two samples indicate 15 metres strike length, with an orientation of 026 degrees and dipping 158 degrees southeast. A 2002 sample assayed 8.05 grams per tonne gold, 510 grams per tonne silver and 0.8 per cent zinc (as reported in Assessment Report 27120).
