Capsule Geology

The Chute prospect is underlain by undivided Triassic to Jurassic intrusive rocks. Pendants or rafts of Mississippian and Pennsylvanian undivided volcanic rock of the Stikine assemblage occur within the intrusions.

Steep dipping north-south trending fault structures occur within the Triassic hornblende diorites exposed in the “Chid Creek Canyon”. These structures were the main target of Allan Resources in 1993 and were called the Chute zone. This zone was traced over a distance of approximately 200 metres in length with occasional narrow breccia zones and quartz veins containing disseminated pyrite and chalcopyrite and sometimes chalcedonic quartz. The best mineralized occurrences are located near the bottom of the creek (22.8 grams per tonne gold across 0.19 metre) and in a trench at the south-end of the zone (36.72 grams per tonne gold across 0.75 metre) (Assessment Report 23431). Elsewhere along this structure minor quartz-carbonate stockwork and buff iron-carbonate alteration contains geochemically anomalous gold values. Both ends of this zone are covered by glacial overburden.

Geochemical surveying in 2016, by the J2 Syndicate, led to the conclusion that a gold-silver-copper trend, the Cash Cow Trend, encompassed the historic Chute and Second Creek (104K 093) prospects. The Cash Cow Trend is underlain by extensively fractured diorite with chlorite and minor hematite along fracture surfaces. The 75 metre wide, 1.4 kilometres long mineralized zone is described as a carbonatized, strongly oxidized fault zone with abundant quartz-carbonate veins, breccia and quartz stockwork within altered granite. The trend is located below tree line and is obscured by a thin veneer of glacial till, so exposure is limited to canyons along drainages. Mineralization exposed in two drainages (Second Creek (104K 093) and Chid Creek (104K 151), separated by 1.4 kilometers along strike, have yielded bedrock grab samples assaying up to 1.3 grams per tonne gold and remains open.

WORK HISTORY

The Chute area was explored by Chevron in early 1980s as the Nie 8 claim when mineralization was discovered associated with sulphide veins (104K 093). Stetson Resource Management was active in the Nie 8 area in 1988 and prospected and sampled the area. In 1989, limited exploration was reported to have been carried out for assessment, including geological mapping and rock sampling. In 1993, trenching, prospecting, geochemical sampling and geophysical EM/Mag grid surveying were carried out on the Chid claims for Allan Resources Incorporated. See Nie (104K 081) for a complete history of work in the region.

In 2007, Paget Resource collected two rock samples from the Chute showing area at Chid Creek. One vein sample with 1 to 2 per cent pyrite yielded 0.4 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 29345).

In 2016, a reconnaissance exploration program was conducted by J2 Syndicate Holdings on August 19th prior to staking the Motherlode claim. A total of 11 rock grab samples were collected within the newly named Cash Cow Trend that encompasses both the Chid Creek and Second Creek Showings.

The 2017 geochemical sampling survey of J2 Syndicate consisted of a two-day program in August, conducted by two geologists and two prospectors. The purpose of the 2017 program was to follow-up on the 2016 prospective results with chip sampling, visit targets delineated by high resolution satellite imagery and to expand the geochemical knowledge of the area. A total of 64 samples were collected during the 2017 field season: 4 chip, 22 rock grab, 3 float, 9 talus fine, 19 soil and 7 silt samples. In 2017, the Cash Cow Trend, yielded a high of 1.215 grams per tonne gold, 4.1 ppm silver and and 0.092 per cent copper along Second Creek (Assessment Report 37139). At Chid Creek, float samples returned highs of 1.34 grams per tonne gold, 3.7 grams per tonne silver and 0.02 per cent copper (Assessment Report 37139).

See Second Creek (104K 093) for directly related geology and Ant (104G 032) and Bing (104K 035) for related information on some common work history.
