Capsule Geology

Most of the property is underlain by Paleozoic gneissic rocks which include coarse-grained quartz-feldspar-chlorite-actinolite schist, quartz-muscovite schist, black to grey quartz-muscovite schist, amphibolite, and biotite and quartz-feldspar-chlorite gneiss.

A north trending dyke of fine-grained, altered syenite occupies the centre of the property. Smaller parallel dykes crosscut the gneisses. These are of probable Eocene age and may be part of the Sloko Group.

A fault bounded wedge of metamorphosed andesitic tuffs belonging to the Upper Triassic Stuhini Group, continues into the southern end of the property from the Polaris-Taku area.

A north trending strand of the Tulsequah Fault System traverses the claims. This fault zone consists of several parallel shears along which the syenite dyke was intruded. Within the shears, coarse- grained actinolite, probably a meta-serpentine or listwanite occurs. A quartz-carbonate vein about 2.0 metres wide and 500 metres long strikes parallel to this zone.

In 1980, samples were taken from the quartz-carbonate vein in the main shear zone. One sample returned 0.0015 grams per tonne gold, 0.7 grams per tonne silver, 0.0132 per cent copper, 0.007 per cent zinc, and another returned 0.001 grams per tonne gold, 0.5 grams per tonne silver, 0.005 per cent copper, and 0.007 per cent zinc. A loose quartz-carbonate sample taken from within the shear zone assayed 0.69 grams per tonne gold, 6.3 grams per tonne silver, 0.005 per cent copper, and 0.0096 per cent zinc (Assessment Report 9068). This vein is lithologically identical to a nearby float sample which yielded 0.69 gram per tonne gold and 6.3 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 9068).

In 1980, Anglo Canadian Mining Corp conducted geological mapping (1:50000) and rock sampling (10 samples) (Assessment Report 9068).

In 1990, Ecstall Mining Corporation collected a number of trench samples from the fuchsite-carbonate showing (Assessment Report 20657). Weakly anomalous Ag and As was detected in some of these samples. The showing is located on a resistant silicified knob in a strongly deformed serpentinized ultramafic rocks of the Mississippian to

Triassic Stikine Assemblage (deformed) on the north shore of a small alpine lake.
