The GD 7 occurrence lies approximately 6.8 kilometres east-northeast of Mount Sister Mary, 7.0 kilometres north of the Stikine River and about 54 kilometres east-northeast of the village of Iskut. The showing is 3.25 kilometres west of similar mineralization at the Joy 84 prospect (104H 010) and located in the rugged terrain of the Cassiar Mountains. Refer to the Joy 84 prospect for comments on work history and regional geology.
The showing area is underlain by unnamed Upper Triassic to Lower Jurassic andesitic flows, breccia, tuff and shale. At the showing, the units strike 012 degrees and dip 15 degrees east. Chalcocite, bornite and native copper are hosted by amygdaloidal andesite along its basal contact with volcanic breccia. The mineralization is disseminated and occurs in the occasional amygdule. Alteration of the host was not described, however, similar mineralization elsewhere in the area is generally accompanied by epidote-zeolite-aragonite masses. The showing was mapped in a cursory fashion without sampling and the overall mineralization is described as weak.
In 2014, on behalf of Garibaldi Resources Corp., stream sediment geochemistry (20 samples) and airborne magnetic and radiometric surveys (331 line kilometres) were carried out over their large MSM property claims which covers the GD 7 showing area. As well, satellite imagery was used to produce a lineament map of the property, which was compared to geological, geochemical and geophysical data to help define favourable areas for mineral exploration.
