The PL 9 East showing area is underlain by marine sedimentary and volcanic rock of the Upper Triassic Stuhini Group. The stratigraphy is intruded by Eocene granite of the Major Hart Pluton and Early Jurassic monzodiorite to gabbro of the Texas Creek Plutonic Suite. Further west the area is underlain by Devonian to Permian sedimentary rocks of the Stikine Assemblage.
Mapping and sampling in the upper reaches of this creek yielded anomalous gold values from rusty fracture zones in a diorite intrusive. Sample 447020, taken across 2.0 metres of rusty fractured diorite with elevated pyrrhotite content and millimeter scale quartz stringers, contained 0.81 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 19534).
