Capsule Geology

The Shake showing is underlain by volcanic and sedimentary rocks of the Upper Triassic Stuhini Group. These rocks have been intruded by a differentiated syenitic intrusion of Early Jurassic age. Volcanic members of the Stuhini Group consist of dark green, mafic volcaniclastics and minor augite porphyry flows. Overlying these are a mixed sedimentary package of laminated siltstones, greywacke, argillite and thin discontinuous limestone horizons. A series of pink orthoclase porphyry syenite dikes cut the Stuhini rocks. Calcite coatings on fractures with associated chalcopyrite mineralization occurs in proximity to the syenite dikes within the volcanic-sedimentary host.

The Stuhini rock have been intruded by a Late Triassic to Early Jurassaic syenitic stock of the Copper Mountain Plutonic Suite along with a dike swarm of megacrystic syenite, with dike widths ranging to 10 metres. Several of these dikes are located up to 1.2 kilometres to the southeast of the Goliath zone in the newly defined "Titan Trend" and are mineralized with finely to strongly disseminated pyrite and chalcopyrite grading up to 0.497 gram per tonne gold, 0.5 per cent copper and 360 parts per million molybdenum (Sample S321802, Assessment Report 37026) (Press Release, CGX Gold Corp (J2 Syndicate partner) December 12, 2016).

In 1989 a grab sample taken from a 5 to 20 centimetre wide vein assayed 14.47 grams per tonne gold (Sample 30268, Assessment Report 19127). In 1990 the same vein was chip sampled across 1 metre and assayed 0.44 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 20414). A relocation of the relocation of the 1989 sample (30268) places it very close to sample S321802 (mentioned above), and within the Titan Trend. The recently discovered Goliath zone (alkalic porphyry gold and copper) is located on trend 1.2 kilometers to the northwest of the Shake showing.

Worky History

In 1989, Candela conducted a reconnaissance geologic mapping, prospecting, and stream sediment sampling program on their Shake 1-4 claims. Candela noted two types of mineralization on the Shake property: shear-hosted quartz-carbonate-magnetite-sulphide (pyrite-chalcopyrite-arsenopyrite) veining, and syenite- hosted veining and fracture fillings.

In 1990, Candela conducted a more extensive property program, collecting 14 heavy mineral stream sediment samples, 180 soil samples, 35 rock samples, and doing further geologic mapping.

During the 2004 field season a four day program supervised by Greig was carried out on the Rugged Claims within the Rugged Mountain intrusive complex. The program consisted of geological mapping, stream sediment sampling, soil contour sampling and prospecting. Sixty-five soil samples reportedly averaged 425 parts per million copper with 19 of the samples exceeding 500 parts per million. Results from rock samples collected also reportedly yielded up to 1.54 per cent copper, 20.9 grams per tonne silver, 1.71 grams per tonne gold and roughly 2 grams per tonne combined platinum-palladium (reported in Assessment Report 28229).

In 2005, Strategic Metals Ltd collected 15 rock and 56 silt samples during their prospecting program on a claim (509114) which covered the Shake (104B 155) and Rugged Mountain (104B 150) showings. Samples collected yielded mixed results with the best obtained from a piece of malachite stained, chalcopyrite bearing clinopyroxene and syenite border phase material in the eastern part of the claims. This sample yielded 1.97 per cent copper, 3.35 grams per tonne gold, 10.0 grams per tonne silver, 1.13 grams per tonne palladium and 0.227 gram per tonne platinum; see Rugged Mountain (104G 150) (Assessment Report 28229).

In 2011, a total of 22 rock samples were collected by the Serengeti Resources on claim 840670, though not in the area of Shake showing.

In 2016, J2 Syndicate Holdings Ltd collected a total of 42 rock grab samples from the Monster property. The Shake is probabaly located within the newly discovered 1.2 kilometre long northwest – southeast Titan gold Trend, which remains open and underexplored. The Goliath zone (104B 442) is about 1.2 kilometres northwest of the Shake zone.

In 2017, reconnaissance and follow-up prospecting, mapping and rock sampling program was cibdycted by J2 Syndicate on their Monster property. Forty-three (43) samples were taken: 5 chip, 8 rock grab, 2 float (15 rock samples in total) and 28 talus fine. Two geologists and one prospector traversed the property taking samples, geological observations and photographs. Sampling revealed a number of areas anomalous in gold, silver and copper as well as a regional high for zinc. These elements of interest were found proximal to and within the Rugged Mountain Intrusive Complex. The first 4 chip samples (W385701 to W385704) were taken in proximity to the 2016 grab samples which were collected over a five metre section at the Goliath prospect, within the Titan Trend. Rock sample W385659 was also taken in the same area.
