The Skookum area is underlain by a northwest striking sequence of rhythmically bedded turbiditic siltstones interbedded with minor thinly bedded wackes. Map compilations (Open File 2005-5) indicate the area to be underlain by Middle to Upper Jurassic Ritchie-Alger Assemblage stratigraphy of the Bowser Lake Group.
In 1990, a control grid was established on the Skookum property and semi-detailed geochemical and geological surveys were completed, as well as reconnaissance horizontal loop EM traverses. Work on behalf of Blue Emerald Resources Inc and Noront Resources Inc included the collection of 32 rock samples and 294 soil samples (Assessment Report 20962).
Two samples of pyrite and silica altered siltstone breccia were taken from outcrop in the footwall of a fault. These two samples assayed 152.81 grams per tonne gold and 44.64 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 20962). About 125 metres northeast of the above sample site, a 3-metre wide, pinch and swell type massive white quartz vein was chip sampled, and assayed 0.72 gram per tonne gold, and a small north east trending quartz vein 90 metres northeast of the above site yielded returned 0.14 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 20962).
In 2018, Tudor Gold completed a silt and soil sampling program on their Eskay North Property consisting of 26 silt samples and 126 soil samples. The claim and much of the work occurred about 1 kilometre south of the Skookum showing area. The soil sampling survey yielded low values overall except for several spot highs for copper, molybdenum, and zinc (Assessment Report 38119). The 2018 stream sediment sampling program returned moderately anomalous values for copper (up to 75 parts per million), weakly anomalous values for molybdenum (up to 6 parts per million) and moderately anomalous values for zinc (up to 305 parts per million) on the east and west sides of the property.
