The CE Contact showing is located on northeast facing slopes above Bronson Creek, approximately 3.3 kilometres south of Bronson Airstrip on the Iskut River. It lies within the northwest-striking Snip-Bronson Trend of mineral occurrences.
Three stratigraphic assemblages have been mapped in the area of the CE Contact showing: (1) Upper Palaeozoic sediments and volcanics of the Stikine Assemblage, (2) clastic sediments of the Triassic Stuhini Group, and (3) Lower Jurassic sediments and volcanics of the Hazelton Group.
Four plutonic suites intrude the above; (1) Late Triassic calc-alkaline intrusions coeval with Stuhini Group stratigraphy, (2) Jurassic Copper Mtn, (3) Jurassic Texas Creek and (4) Tertiary Coast Plutonic suite.
The Bonanza, CE-Contact and drillhole CS94-20 zones are similarly described as quartz-calcite-sulphide mineralized shear zones in altered tuff, mudstone, siltone and greywacke. Sulphides occur as banded, semi-massive patches and disseminations in quartz-calcite veins. Mineralization includes: pyrite (Bonanza, CS94-20) or pyrrhotite (CE-Contact) as the major sulphide component, sphalerite (up to 20 per cent), galena (trace to 2 per cent), chalcopyrite (trace to l per cent), and trace arsenopyrite. Select trench samples yielded grades up to 13.5 grams per tonne gold, 8.5 per cent zinc over 1 metre (CE-Contact), and 15.0 grams per tonne gold over 2.0 metres, 10 per cent zinc over 1.8 metres (Bonanza) (Assessment Report 24361). The majority of surface and drill core samples yielded considerably lower gold grades (4 to 5 grams per tonne over 1 metre intervals) with zinc grades of 5 to 10 per cent over 2 metres not uncommon. Drill testing of the Bonanza and CE-Contact zones prior to 1995 had tested these structures down dip to elevations of 750 and 655 metres (a.s.1.) respectively.
Diamond drilling in 1995 focused primarily on a 2.5 kilometre structural trend defined by the Bonanza showing, CE-Contact showing and drillhole CS94-20. Drill holes targeted on this structure tested the theory that gold values (1 to 4 grams per tonne gold) previously sampled at elevations of 600 to 700 metre (a.s.1.) would increase with depth at elevations comparable to Snip Mine workings (250 to 500 metres (a.s.1.). Although this shear structure proved to maintain significant width with depth, mineralization and gold content did not change significantly from those intersections previously encountered.
In 2011, chip and channel samples (SP11-7-14-2, SP11-7-8-5 and M972313) from trenches located approximately 300 to 350 metres to the north- north west on the Bills Gully, Big Slump Gully and Fuchsite Gully zones assayed 2.07, 4.67 and 8.53 grams per tonne gold, 99, 232 and 56.3 grams per tonne silver, 0.63, 2.10 and 0.03 per cent copper with 0.10, 4.28 and 0.84 per cent zinc over 0.15, 1.00 and 1.10 metres, respectively (Burgoyne, A.A. Also at this time a chip sample (SpCe14-11-8-9-2) from trench CE-14 located approximately 350 metres to the north- north east yielded 3.89 grams per tonne gold, 94.3 grams per tonne silver and 0.28 per cent zinc over 0.25 metre (Burgoyne, A.A. Diamond drilling, in 2011, on the Fuchsite zone yielded intercepts including 0.509 gram per tonne gold over 54.70 metres in hole SK11-20 and 0.970 gram per tonne gold, 17.8 grams per tonne silver and 0.426 per cent zinc over 22.90 metres, including 10.00 grams per tonne gold, 151.0 grams per tonne silver, 0.119 per cent copper, 0.297 per cent lead and 0.300 per cent zinc over 1.40 metres, 2.566 grams per tonne gold, 24.2 grams per tonne silver and 0.612 per cent zinc over 10.70 metres and 1.628 grams per tonne gold, 5.0 grams per tonne silver and 0.265 per cent zinc over 42.60 metres in hole SK11-21 (Burgoyne, A.A. In 2012 DDH SG12-29, located approximately 300 metres northeast of CE Contact, tested the area immediately down dip of a strongly altered sequence of host rocks intersected in hole SK11-21 the previous year. SG 12-29 intersected sulphide-dominant Snip-style gold mineralization yielding 1.38m of 56.40 grams per tonne Au from 194.95 to 196.33 metres. This high-grade interval is within a 10.07 metre sample that assayed 9.6 grams per tonne Au from 187.76 to 197.83 metres. This hole also intersected two significant bulk tonnage intervals, the first starts at the top of the hole and yielded 148.24 metres of 0.339 gram per tonne Au. The second interval, from 197.83 to 291.65 metres, assayed 93.82 metres of 0.337 gram per tonne Au. (Snip Gold News Release September 12, 2012).
