Gossanous zones of disseminated pyrite and minor sphalerite occur in felsic volcanic and volcaniclastic rocks of the Lower Jurassic Hazelton Group along the eastern margin of the Dup 9 claim. These gossans appear to be associated with sericite-silica alteration as well as the emplacement of gabbro/diorite dikes which outcrop within 50 to 100 metres of these gossans. Rock samples collected from the eastern margin of Dup 9 yielded elevated geochemical values for zinc, 0.16 per cent; silver, 2.1 grams per tonne; arsenic, 0.15 per cent and gold, 0.185 gram per tonne (Assessment Report 25258). Further to the west, the rhyolite is exposed on gossanous cliffs along the Unuk River thrust fault. These gossans exhibit weak sericite-silica alteration and contain disseminated pyrite or pyrite stringers.
Work History
In 1995, Canamera Geological conducted a field program of reconnaissance mapping, prospecting, soil and silt geochemical sampling for the Tagish Joint Venture. In 1996 Canamera conducted a field program of structural, grid, and reconnaissance mapping, prospecting, soil geochemical sampling, and UTEM geophysics for the Tagish Joint Venture. A new cot and surveyed grid was the basis of the detailed mapping and UTEM program in the Fred 15 area. During 1995 and 1996, 138 rock samples were collected. A total 1831 samples are from soil grids established in 1995 and 1996. In 1997 Canamera collected 569 rock samples and 216 soil samples on their Tagish Joint venture claims, including the Dup 9.
Some prospecting occurred on the Pud 1 and 2 claim of Calypso Development in 1999.
In 2020, Eskay Mining Corp. completed a program of prospecting, rock sampling, ground and airborne geophysical surveys and 4335 metres of diamond drilling in 20 holes on the area as part of the Sib-Corey-North Mitchell property. The geophysical surveys consisted of a 911.7 line-kilometre airborne electromagnetic survey, a 55.85 line-kilometre induced polarization survey and a 43.19 line-kilometre magnetotelluric survey. Drilling was performed on the TV (MINFILE 104B 385) and Jeff (MINFILE 104B 525) occurrences.
