The Marmot Heights area is underlain by Devonian sedimentary and volcanic rocks of the Stikine Assemblage. The Devonian Forrest Kerr Pluton is in contact to the immediate west of the Stikine package. Plutonic rocks consist primarily of Late Devonian granite and diorite.
Andesite has been preferentially flooded by sporadically mineralized, quartz veins. Moose Creek (Au-As vein), Marmot Heights (Au-As vein), and the SW 7 (Cu shear) are all hosted within or near to the andesite contact. High grade gold values associated with arsenopyrite bearing quartz veins have been located at the Marmot Heights (45.57 grams per tonne gold) and Moose Creek (32.16 grams per tonnes gold) showings (Assessment Report 23629).
In 1994 Abacus Minerals collected a total of 53 soil samples were collected in the Marmot Heights area to better define known gold-copper-arsenic geochemical anomalies from 1990.
