Capsule Geology

Late Devonian intrusive rock of the McLymont Plutonic Suite forms a large mass bounding the Newmont fault to the southeast. The fault forms the southeast bounding fault of the McLymont graben. The Gab 6 showing occurs about 1 kilometre southeast of the fault.

In an area mapped as granite or monzonite, a barite vein with tetrahedrite assayed 247.20 grams per tonne silver, 4.54 per cent zinc and 0.27 per cent copper (sample 43416, Figure6, Assessment Report 21152). Figure 6 shows sample 43416 to be hosted in faulted granite, though it crinoidal limestone is mapped just east of the sample location on Figure 6 of Assessment Report 21152.

In 2019, work completed by Crystal Mining Corp. resulted in soil and rock geochemical analyses that led to newly discovered occurrences and to a multi-element geochemical anomaly spread over an 8 kilometre by 4 kilometre footprint (the Chachi Corridor) spatially associated with the McLymont Fault structure. An Induced Polarization (“IP”) ground geophysics survey completed in 2019 has detected a chargeable conductive anomaly within the soil chemical anomalies and occurrences in the footwall of the Mclymont Fault. Over 2000 soil samples, 2000 hyperspectral measurements, and 800 rock samples were collected from this area. Anomalies area include high-grade gold-silver-copper sulphide at the new Leo discovery, high-grade silver, zinc, copper, lead with barite in the Cuba-Thumper Trend (104B 334,440, 445) and high-grade nickel, cobalt, copper, silver arsenide/sulphide associated with stockwork copper sulphide mineralization in the new Brass Rose and Grey Rose occurrences.

Work History

In 1988, a limited geological reconnaissance field program was conducted on the Gab 6 claim on behalf of Thumper Resources Corp (Assessment Report 18496). The program consisted of several prospecting and mapping traverses combined with rock chip sampling. Fifty three rock samples were assayed. In 1990 continued exploration and evaluation by Thumper took place on the Gab 6 including: geological mapping, prospecting and soil geochemistry sampling (Assessment Report 21151). Twelve rocks and 179 soil samples were collected.

Crystal Lake Mining Corporation announced on December 3, 2018 that it had finalized an agreement with Romios Gold Resources Inc. to acquire a 100 per cent interest in the 436 square kilometre Newmont Lake Project..

In 2019, Crystal Lake Mining Corp sampled and mapped the Cuba-Thumper Trend along its 2.5 to 3.2 kilometre length. This trend is found between the Cuba prospects (104B 334 and 440) in the north and Thumper (104B 445) to the south. The trend is characterized by a high-grade high-grade silver-zinc-copper-lead barite system.

See Thumper (new MNFILE) for related details. See Northwest (104B 281) for details of area work after the amalgamation of tenures by Romios Gold Resources Inc in the 2000s, when airborne geophysics was done over significant land areas.
