The Summit 5 showing is located on the north side of a large east-west trending creek, immediately east of Summit Mountain, at an elevation of 1,200 to 1,400 metres.
The area is underlain by the Unuk River Formation and consists of dacitic volcanics (tuffs/flows and/or breccia) with minor intercalations and screens of elastic sediments and limestone. Alkaline Early Middle Jurassic K-feldspar porphyry intrusive rocks cut the Unuk River Formation.
Locally, northeast and northwest trending quartz veins contain 1 to 20 per cent pyrite and quartz along and near their contacts with the country rock. The quartz veins generally follow fissures and/or fractures with roughly vertical to steep westerly dips. Trace to 1 per cent chalcopyrite and tetrahedrite occur in the quartz-pyrite zones. Sulphides associated with these quartz veins include pyrrhotite, pyrite, chalcopyrite, arsenopyrite, sphalerite, galena and related chlorite-carbonate-sericite alteration.
Another zone of mineralization, referred to as the Kingpin zone, is located at high elevations approximately 800 metres west-southwest of the Summit 5 occurrence. The type and style of mineralization at the zone is not reported.
Work History
Between 2001 and 2004, Fundamental Resources Corp. completed various programs of geochemical sampling, geophysical surveys and geological mapping.
In 2001, rock chip sampling returned up to 0.24 per cent copper, 2.11 per cent lead, 5.07 per cent zinc, 270.3 grams per tonne silver and 15.8 grams per tonne gold over 1.0 metre (Assessment Report 26378).
In 2002, Fundamental Resources Corp mapped, and rock/soil sampled a 1.2 by 0.5-kilometre area on the north central portion of Summit 5. This field work outlined several northeast and northwest trending quartz veins with 1-20 per cent pyrite and quartz along and near their contacts with the country rock. The quartz veins generally follow fissures and/or fractures with roughly vertical to steep westerly dips. Trace to 1 per cent chalcopyrite and tetrahedrite occur in the quartz-pyrite zones. In 2002, sampling (in the Slide Gully North) yielded up to 0.156 per cent copper, 0.19 per cent lead, 0.9 per cent zinc, 26.0 grams per tonne silver and 50.4 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 27163).
In 2012, Eilat Resources Inc completed an airborne magnetic survey on their Summit Lake property. The survey, carried out, covered a total of 332.5-line kilometres. It was flown at 150 metre line spacing in a north-south flight direction.
In 2012 Andris Kikauka collected 11 rock samples, 39 soil samples and conducted 0.3 kilometres of ground magnetics in the Summit 5 area.
In 2015, Eilat Exploration Ltd conducted geochemical sampling northwest of the north end of Summit Lake and, on the east side of Summit Lake, east of Scottie Gold. A total of 30 rock chip samples and 25 soil samples were collected. A new showing was discovered on the east side of Summit Lake called the Yom Kippur.
In 2016, Triangle Exploration Limited (optionee from Eilat Explorations) completed a 566-kilometre airborne magnetic and radiometric survey which extends west, north and south from the eastern shore of Summit Lake to the eastern boundary of Eilat Exploration's 2012 airborne survey. The 2016 survey is a continuation of the airborne survey flown for Eilat Exploration in 2012 (Assessment Report 33511). Data collected from the 2016 Summit Lake survey block were merged with data collected in 2012 (Assessment Report 36318). The combined data covers 10 mineral occurrences documented in MINFILE: Scottie Gold (104B 034), St. Eugene (104B 036), Scottie North (104B 074), Blueberry (104B 133), Hicks (104B 139), Summit 5 (104B 436), Summit Gossan (104B 648), Summit Nunatak (104B 649) and Glacier Edge (104B 650).
During 2018 through 2020, Scottie Resources Corp. completed programs of rock and auger (tailings) sampling, airborne and ground geophysical surveys and diamond drilling on the Scottie Gold property. During this time, 25 samples were collected from the Kingpin zone, with seven samples yielding 1 to 10 grams per tonne gold and two samples yielding greater than 10 grams per tonne and up to 26.9 grams per tonne gold (Equity Exploration Consultants Ltd.
