Capsule Geology

The Golden Crown occurrence, which is located 700 metres south-southeast of the Big Missouri deposit, lies within south-southeast striking, moderately dipping andesite, agglomerate and lapilli tuff, with interbedded cherty tuff of the Lower Jurassic Unuk River Formation. (See Big Missouri - 104B 046 for enhanced geology).

The mineralization, which consists of pyrite, chalcopyrite, galena, and sphalerite, occurs in andesitic tuff and intercalated hematitic sediment lenses. Two adits explored a mineralized zone up to 3 metres wide, associated with cherty tuff.

Work History

In 1987, diamond drilling by Westmin Resources Limited occurred on the Laura, Golden Crown and Pass Fraction claims (Assessment Report 16806).

Ascot Resources Ltd conducted exploration on the Dilworth Property in 2007 and 2008 and subsequently acquired the Premier Gold Property from Boliden Ltd under the terms of a 2009 option agreement.

The Golden Crown zone is located above Hog Lake and the former mill site of the Big Missouri Mine. Several old underground workings are situated below the 2009 drill site of Ascot Resources. Surface samples in strongly mineralized rock near the entrances to the adits yielded several low-grade intervals (1.0-2.0 grams per tonne gold) over short intervals of up to 2.0 meters in chip sampling (Assessment Report 31489). Drill holes P09-045 and 046 were drilled easterly. Results include 6.02 gram per tonne gold over 1.00 metre at 17.60 metres and 1.09 grams per tonne gold over 4.0 metres in P09-045, and 2.76 grams per tonne gold over 6.63 metres at 127.37 metres in P09-046 (Assessment Report 31489). These narrow, low-grade intersections were encountered in both holes and may represent a steep westerly dipping stockwork zones. Rocktypes encountered were varieties of andesites with minor quartz veins/flooding marking the mineralized zones.

2010 drillhole P10-075 is located to the west of 2009 drill holes on the Golden Crown Zone. Rocktypes are a mix of various units and include abundant lapilli tuff scattered through the hole, plus several zones of gold mineralization. The upper mineralization, 0.52 grams per tonne gold over 4.38 metres, was encountered just below the casing and included a short section of silica breccia (Assessment Report 32357). The middle zone that roughly corresponds to the Province Zone, consisted of 1.64 grams per tonne gold over 3.39 metres hosted in an altered andesite and silica breccia (Assessment Report 32357). The lower zone, 0.34 grams per tonne gold over 42.94 metres, contains several results greater than 1.0 grams per tonne gold but most assay results were less than 0.3 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 32357).

See Big Missouri (104B 046) for related and specific historical work. See also Yellowstone (104B 039) and Premier (104B 054) for details of the Dilworth and Premier properties that includes the Big Missouri and occurrences in the vicinity.
