The Band showing is located on the southwest-facing slope of Banded Mountain, immediately north of the headwaters of the White River, about 35 kilometres east-southeast of Stewart.
The showing area is mainly underlain by Middle-Upper Jurassic Hazelton Group sediments which include dark grey to black, well-bedded mudstones and siltstones and subordinate greywackes. The sedimentary sequence on the south slope of Banded Mountain is intruded by a west-trending body of biotite granodiorite, at least 2000 metres long and 240 to 370 metres wide and occupying the trace of a thrust fault. The granodiorite is slightly sericitized near its margins. A series of 15 to 90 metre wide aplite and pegmatite dike swarms are developed within the intrusion and in the enclosing sediments. They form tight stockworks to the northeast, comprising up to 30 per cent of the rock. Individual dikes are up to 6 metres wide.
The Band showing comprises two parallel, 10-20 centimetre wide quartz-arsenopyrite veins hosted by fine to medium grained, grey equigranular granodiorite-quartz diorite. The veins, which strike north-northeast and dip moderately west, are cut by north-northwest striking, vertical aplite dikes and barren, waxy white quartz veins. Siltstones marginal to the granitic contact feature intense iron staining. About 100 metres west of this locality, the granitlc rocks are coarser grained and feature prominent northwest striking, moderately south dipping sheeting. Immediately north of the contact, a 5 centimetre quartz-galena vein strikes north-northwest and dips steeply southwest. A rock chip sample (82526) from the quartz-arsenopyrite veins assayed 32.0 grams per tonne gold, 85.3 grams per tonne silver, 0.63 per cent lead and 0.15 per cent zinc (Assessment Report 25406).
The Band claims were located by R.T. Heard in 1993. Exploratory programs between 1994 and 1996 included reconnaissance geology, prospecting, one trial line of magnetometer readings and the collection and analyses of 34 stream sediment and 55 rock samples. Work in 1997 consisted of an examination of the favourable granitic stock-sedimentary rock contact and the collection and subsequent analyses of 4 rock samples.
