The Gee Kidd marl occurrence is situated 1.5 kilometres northwest of the Skeena River, 6 kilometres northeast of Cedarvale.
The deposit rests on a 1000 by 250 metre bench blanketed with glacial drift more than a metre in thickness that overlies sediments of the Middle Jurassic to Upper Cretaceous Bowser Lake Group. The marl has accumulated in a lake measuring 230 by 110 metres. A beaver dam at the lakes outlet has substantially raised the level of the lake making the marl difficult to sample. The deposit was staked in 1936.
The Gee Kid marl is best described as a seepage-ponded deposit. It appears to be a kettle depression which collects water and favours the deposition of marl. Precipitation of marl may be on-going in Lime Lake due to the raised water level.
