The Lynda occurrence is located near an un-named mountain top, southeast of Canswick Lake and approximately 4.5 kilometres north of Mount Bertha.
Regionally, the area is underlain by Middle Devonian Dunedin Formation argillaceous-fossilferous limestone conformably overlain to the west by, and in fault contact to the east with, Devonian to Carboniferous Besa River shales.
Locally, minor disseminated galena is noted near solution-collapse features in Dunedin limestone. In addition, calcite and barite pods occur within the limestone on the west slope of Cranswick Lake Valley.
In 1973, rock chip sampling yielded values of up to 0.94 per cent zinc (Assessment Report 4790).
Work History
In 1972, Canadian Superior Exploration Ltd. completed a program of geological mapping and geochemical (rock and soil) sampling on the area immediately south of the occurrence as the Dev, June and RB claims. The following year, Canadian Superior completed a program of prospecting and rock sampling on the area as the Lynda claim.
