The Klip occurrence is located 7 kilometres south of Johanson Lake, on the south facing slopes above the headwaters of Kliyul Creek (EMPR Open File 2005-4). It comprises a northeast-striking shear zone within quartz-pyrite-sericite-altered volcaniclastic rocks of the Upper Triassic Takla Group. A one metre chip sample across the shear zone yielded 3.8 grams per tonne gold and 5.3 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 13258, Sample 873001).
In 1984, BP Resources Canada optioned the KLI property from Kennco and Vital Mines. They re-logged and selectively re-sampled 1,593 metres of previously-drilled core. They interpreted the main zone as an “irregular 200 metre by 100 metre zone of magnetite-rich skarn mineralization” (Assessment Report 13258). They also completed mapping at 1:5,000 scale and collected reconnaissance rock and soil samples.
In 1992, Noranda completed an extensive airborne magnetic, EM, and radiometric survey which covered the Klip and many other showings in the area (Assessment Report 23379).
