The Joh 11 showing is located west of Darb Lake, approximately 157 kilometres northeast of Hazelton. The Joh 1 showing (094D 168) is about 3 kilometres to the south.

The area is underlain by Middle Triassic to Lower Jurassic Takla Group volcanic rocks. These comprise porphyritic andesite and banded tuff. A porphyritic hornblende monzonite stock of the Early Jurassic Hogem batholith intrudes the volcanics, northeast of Johanson Lake. Recent mapping to the south has redefined the Hogem batholith as part Intrusive Complex (Open File 1992-11). The volcanics are hornfelsed and contain bands of amphibolite within 300 metres of the intrusive contact. West of Darb Lake, the Darb diorite to monzonite stock intrudes the volcanics. Diorite plugs, locally chloritized and carbonatized, commonly average 3 to 4 per cent disseminated pyrite.

Mineralization occurs in 3 main areas on the Joh property corresponding to large magnetic highs and an intrusive-volcanic contact zone. These areas are the Joh 12 (094D 166), the Joh 2 (094D 167) and the Joh 1 (094D 168) showings. A grab sample was also taken of hornfelsed volcanic rock from near the northwest corner of the Joh 11 claim. This sample assayed 0.2288 per cent copper, 1.2 grams per tonne gold and 8.3 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 21781).

In 1991, Swannell Minerals Corporation requested Reliance Geological Services Inc to carry out an exploration program consisting of rock, stream sediment and heavy mineral sampling surveys, and geological mapping on the JOH property. The claims were registered in the name of Major General Resources Ltd and under option to Swannell. The Joh property comprised five contiguous mineral claims consisting of 98 units, totaling 2450 hectares in area. Exploration results identified copper/gold mineralization in rocks in three areas of the Joh property. Each of the three areas corresponds to a magnetic high and intrusive-volcanic contact zones. The 2 other areas are the Joh 2 (094D 167) and the Joh 1 (094D 168) showings.
