The DD (Niv) occurrence is located approximately 2 kilometres west of Two Lake Creek and 11 kilometres west-southwest of Dewar Peak, about 171 kilometres northwest of the community of Germansen Landing.
The showing is near the major northwest trending Omineca fault, renamed the Two Lake Creek fault (Geological Survey of Canada Open File 342). The showing occurs within the fault zone which separates the Upper Triassic Takla Group from the Lower Jurassic Hazelton Group.
Chalcopyrite, malachite and azurite are found in 1.5-centimetre-wide veinlets also containing calcite, an unidentified soft grey mineral, quartz and pyrite. Hostrocks appear to be andesitic volcanic rocks of the Takla Group.
The Niv area was mapped by the Geological Survey of Canada and published in Memoir 251, McConnell Creek map area, Cassiar District, British Columbia, in years 1941, 1944 and 1945, by Dr. G.S. Lord. A grab sample assayed 7.03 grams per tonne gold, 2853 grams per tonne silver and 8.31 per cent copper (Geological Survey of Canada Memoir 251).
In 1965, the showing was surveyed by Black Giant Mines Ltd. and re-surveyed again in 1966 but no work was performed and no claims were staked.
In 1973, some line cutting was done by Inland Copper Ltd.
In 1998, the south part of the Niv property was first explored by reconnaissance soil geochemical surveys.
In 2011, International Samuel Exploration Corp. purchased 100 per cent rights and interest in the Niv claim and completed an aeromagnetic survey (554 line kilometres), induced polarization survey (4.2 line kilometres) and prospecting. A total of 69 rock samples were collected during prospecting and geochemical analyses performed. Seven samples assayed from 1.01 to 6.21 per cent copper. The highlights of this program include sample 32965 from a quartz vein, which assayed 2220 grams per tonne silver, 5.74 grams per tonne gold, 6.21 per cent copper, 0.615 per cent lead, 0.961 per cent zinc and greater than 10,000 parts per million (1 per cent) antimony; and sample 32581, located 859 metres east of sample 32965, which assayed 61.2 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 32607).
