The CJL occurrence is located about 2.3 kilometres west of Tenakihi Lakes and approximately 67 kilometres northwest of the community of Germansen Landing.

The showing area is underlain by an Early Jurassic monzonitic phase of the Hogem Plutonic Suite in contact with volcanic rocks of the Upper Triassic Takla Group.

In 2005, the short prospecting program of Commander Resources Ltd. on its Aten property was successful in discovering a new high-grade copper prospect called the CJL. It is hosted by a highly altered, foliated syenite which had not previously been seen on the property. Massive chalcopyrite may comprise up to 30 per cent per cent of the boulders. These boulders can be seen for over 150 metres at the base of talus. The extent of the boulders indicated the potential for a sizeable, high-grade copper zone.

Chalcopyrite occurs in semi-massive to massive concentrations up to 10 centimetres in diameter in boulders. It forms as disseminated blebs or along foliation layers. Substantial magnetite occurs with the chalcopyrite, but it was thought not to be skarn-related as there is no epidote, garnet, or significant chlorite. The relationship of semi-massive specular hematite is unclear except that it appears to form bands and is close to, or host to, copper mineralization.

Assays up to 12.4 per cent copper were derived from boulders; one apparently non-float sample in the same vicinity and designated as grab assayed 2238 parts per million (0.22 per cent) copper (Assessment Report 28205, Figure 6a). Boulders yielded up to 0.635 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 28205, Figure 6b).

In 2012, Commander Resources Ltd. conducted prospecting, rock sampling (4), soil grid sampling (82) and stream sediment sampling (1) on its Aten property. A rock sample (#23998) from a talus slope with scattered rocks of malachite-stained granite assayed 1.48 per cent copper (Assessment Report 34131).

In 2020, Interra Copper Corp. completed a program of geological mapping, geochemical (rock, soil and stream sediment) sampling and a 14.0 line-kilometre induced polarization survey on the area as the Thane property. A rock sample (35929) of oxidized rock hosting a specularite-magnetite-chalcopyrite vein assayed 3.952 per cent copper (Vanderwart Consulting Inc. [2021-07-12]: Technical Report on the Thane Copper-Gold Project, Omineca Mining Division, British Columbia, Canada).

Refer to DM (094C 112), located 2.5 kilometres north-northwest of the CJL showing, for details of the Aten property exploration history.
