The Aten 2 occurrence is located west of, and near the south end of Tenakihi Lakes, approximately 68 kilometres northwest of the community of Germansen Landing.
The showing is described as a mineralized fracture zone in monzonite belonging to an Early Jurassic phase of the Hogem Plutonic Suite. In 1991, a grab sample taken across and adjacent to a 1 centimetre wide fracture zone filled by chalcopyrite assayed 2.82 per cent copper (Assessment Report 22123). Intense azurite and malachite staining also occurs.
The Aten 2 occurrence is located in the central portion of the Aten 2 claim of Major General Resources Ltd. (Commander Resources Ltd.) who worked on the property in 1991, 1992 and 2005. Refer to DM (094C 112), located 3 kilometres north, for details of the Aten property exploration history.
