The HB occurrence is located 14 kilometres northeast of Aiken Lake and 101 kilometres almost due north of the community of Germansen Landing.
The Star property showings such as the HB zone occur within the Lower Jurassic Polaris Ultramafic Complex which is composed of dunite, werhlite, pyroxenite, and gabbro, some of which is altered to serpentine.
The HB (Haslinger B) zone is located on a southwesterly trending ridge that is underlain by layers of peridotite, olivine clinopyroxenite and pyroxenite which have a northeasterly dip. Disseminated chalcopyrite and pyrrhotite have been identified.
Historic sampling results are reported to include values up to 0.305 per cent copper, 1.320 grams per tonne platinum and 1.822 grams per tonne palladium (Assessment Report 35680).
In 2004, one value obtained from the olivine clinopyroxenite was 0.024 per cent copper, 0.28 gram per tonne platinum, and 0.368 gram per tonne palladium (Assessment Report 27617). Other samples have yielded up to 0.06 per cent copper.
Work History
In February 1995, the Star 1-5 claims were staked by U. Mowat to cover a unit of the Polaris Complex. Mowat prospected, sampled and mapped the property from 1995 to 2002 inclusive. In 2003, Minterra Resource Corp. optioned the Star magmatic platinum group element (PGE) property from Mowat. The company proceeded with an 8-line kilometre induced polarization survey that identified a number of drill targets. In 2004, Minterra drilled eight NQ holes on the HC (094C 166) and GL (094C 165) zones totalling 1044 metres. In 2005, the Star claims were briefly optioned to Aumega Discoveries, but the option was terminated. In 2007, U. Mowat collected 32 rock samples and 3 soil samples.
In 2010, U. Mowat completed geochemical sampling (44 rock, 52 soil, 1 silt) on the Star property which cover parts of the HA, HB, Taurus and Libra zones (094C 167, 169). In 2014, U. Mowat conducted geochemical sampling (110 soil, 190 rock) on the large Star property which covers the Queen (094C 163), GL (094C 165), Ridge (094C 164), HC (094C 166), HA (094C 167) and HB (094C 168) occurrences. In 2015, U. Mowat completed a further program of geochemical (rock and soil) sampling on the Star property.
