The Bullmoose River property lies about eight km northeast of the past-producing Bullmoose mine (MINFILE 093P 001), near the town of Tumbler Ridge in the Peace Coalfield. The resource is mainly low volatile bituminous coal, but some medium-volatile coal is found in some of the Gates Formation seams. Coal is hosted by the Boulder Creek and Gates formations of the Fort St. John Group, and the Gething Formation of the Bullhead Group. All three coal-bearing formations are dominated by sandstone, and also include non-marine and marine siltstones, and minor conglomerate, mudstone and shale.
Ten coal seams are identified on the property; the BC (in the Boulder Creek Formation), B, C, D, E1, E2, E3, and F (in the Gates formation), and the Superior and Trojan seams (in the Gething Formation). Coking properties are favourable in most seams. The best potential for underground extraction is from De, E1, F, and Superior seams (Coal Assessment Report 930).
The Bullmoose River property borders the eastern edge of the old Brameda Option (Sukunka), Bullmoose, and Spieker properties of the mid-1970s (Coal Assessment Reports 476, 477).
The property was acquired by Canadian Dehua International Mines Group Incorporated in 2010. In 2011 Dehua drilled twenty-eight vertical slim core holes and 3 hydrologic wells (Coal Assessment Report 930). Norwest Corporation prepared a non-NI 43-101 compliant resource estimate:, the calculation with a greater than 1.5 metre seam thickness cutoff: Measured 64.1 million tonnes, Indicated 192.3 million tonnes, and Inferred 349.1 million tonnes.
