Capsule Geology

The Friday Red occurrence is located 90 kilometres east of the community of Hazelton and 8 kilometres northeast of Nakinilerak Lake.

Gently dipping green volcanic flows, tuffs, tuff breccia and minor intercalated mudstones of the Lower Jurassic Telkwa Formation (Hazelton Group) are intruded by a highly magnetic feldspar porphyry dike, possibly related to the Eocene Babine Plutonic Suite.

At the showing, very minor amounts of chalcopyrite are disseminated in the matrix of an amygdaloidal unit of the volcanic rocks.

The Friday claims were originally located by David Minerals Limited. In 1972, magnetometer (64 line-kilometres) and soil (1014 samples) geochemical surveys were completed on the claims by Caliente Mining Corporation.
