The Lion occurrence is located on a tributary to Ominicetla Creek, 6 kilometres northeast of Iklaki Peak, and 120 kilometres east-northeast of the community of Hazelton. The showing area is underlain by andesite, tuff, breccia and agglomerate interbedded with silty mudstone, argillite and minor black pyritic limestone of the Lower Jurassic Telkwa Formation (Hazelton Group). The Telkwa Formation is stratigraphically overlain by red and grey conglomerate, agglomerate and minor siltstone of the Cretaceous to Eocene Sustut Group. The Telkwa Formation rocks are intruded by small plugs of quartz and hornblende feldspar porphyry of unknown age and a large plug of biotite hornblende diorite of Late Jurassic age. The number 1 showing is a fractured, siliceous zone, approximately 1.2 metres wide containing chalcopyrite. An area of fracturing, containing pyrite and iron carbonate (ankerite), is present around the showing area. In 1973, a selected sample assayed 3.21 per cent copper, 18.9 grams per tonne silver, and trace gold (Assessment Report 4725). Two other showings containing fracture-controlled pyrite and chalcopyrite are present on the property. In 2009, at the Lion showing located on the Bigtime 11 claim, a 1-metre representative chip sample (880733) was taken from a fine-grained, grey, silicified and brecciated one-metre wide felsic dike (shear zone) striking 145 degrees, dipping 75 degrees southwest. The dike is mineralized with disseminated pyrite, chalcopyrite and malachite staining along fractures and weathered surfaces and assayed 0.98 per cent copper (Assessment Report 31410). In 1973, the Luc Syndicate conducted mapping and silt and soil (1355 samples) geochemistry on the Lion claims which identified three showings, several silicified gossan zones, and anomalous copper and silver in soil. A reconnaissance induced polarization survey shows weak anomalies on some lines but was inconclusive (Assessment Report 4725). In 2007-08, silt and soil geochemical surveys were undertaken on the Bigtime property by Amarc Resources Ltd. In 2009, Amarc collected 184 rock samples and 519 soil samples and conducted an 11.7 kilometre induced polarization survey (Assessment Report 31410). Mineralization encountered in the 2009 season includes a weakly mineralized quartz stockwork, several ankerite-bearing shear zones with copper-bearing sulphides in quartz veinlets, and an area of disseminated copper mineralization and elevated molybdenum associated with multiple sub-parallel felsic dikes intruding Hazelton Group mafic flows and tuffs. Five mineralized areas are designated as Bigtime A to E (093M 212 to 216).
