The Golden Girl prospect is located 3 kilometres south of the abandoned village of Kisgegas, 46 kilometres north of Hazelton.
An east-northeast trending granodioritic plug of the Late Cretaceous Bulkley Intrusions, approximately 300 by 1000 metres in size, cuts argillites, siltstones and sandstones of the Middle Jurassic to Lower Cretaceous Bowser Lake Group. Hornfelsing is evident in the sedimentary rocks next to the intrusive.
Two types of mineralization are present on the property. Molybdenite and molybdenite-pyrite-pink feldspar fracture coatings are found in the granitic rocks (Assessment Report 17291). The second type of metallic mineralization consists of quartz-galena- pyrite-sphalerite-arsenopyrite-tetrahedrite veins with sporadic sericite and molybdenite. The veins range up to 1 metre in width and generally trend northwest, dipping moderately to the northeast. The mineralization is mainly confined to the intrusive rocks, but extends into the Bowser Lake Group rocks as well. More than 17 veins have been mapped.
Two of the higher grade samples assayed 1.0 gram per tonne gold and 3182.1 grams per tonne silver across 20 centimetres and 6.0 grams per tonne gold and 104.6 grams per tonne silver across 37 centimetres (Assessment Report 17291).
WORK HISTORY
While historic trenches on some of the veins and old claim posts are evident to this day, these had not been documented. MINFILE showing 93M 081 refers to those on the Golden Girl property.
The vein showings on the Golden Girl property were staked and sampled by Tom Bell of Kispiox in 1986. He obtained assays of up to 5.56 parts per million gold and 26.5 parts per million silver and 0.36 parts per million gold and 361 parts per million silver. It is not clear if multi-element lab testing was done.
Bell optioned the property to Noranda Exploration in February 1987, after which they staked Janze 1 and Janze 2 claims.
Noranda Exploration collected 27 silt samples, 107 rock samples, and 243 soil samples between August and October in 1988 (Assessment Report 17291). (Myers, 1988).
In 2007, the Golden Girl property was prospected and 12 grab samples were collected of vein material and mineralized float. The prospecting was intended to locate as many of the mineralized showings that had been mapped by Noranda, any additional showings, and to locate the source of the molybdenum-in-soil anomaly that coincides with the margin of the Golden Girl stock. Grades up to 1.65 and 2.56 grams per tonne gold (Veins 1-4), 2081.84 grams per tonne silver and 1.18 per cent copper and 11.6 per cent lead (Vein 5) and 4.34 per cent zinc from float are the highlights of assays from the grab samples Assessment Report 29872). The Golden Girl claims covered the Golden Girl occurrenc3e and the plotted location of the Shegistic showing (093M 182). No work was done in the Shegistic area.
In 2015, J. Ostler completed a program of geological mapping and rock sampling on the area. In 2018 and 2019, Zenith Exploration Inc. completed an airborne geophysical survey and an ASTER satellite image survey. Two rock samples (GL-18-1 and GL-18-2), collected in 2018, assayed 160 and 282 grams per tonne silver, 2.64 and 1.80 per cent lead with 1.90 and 6.13 per cent zinc, respectively (Butler, S.P. (2019-09-17): Technical Report on the Golden Girl property).
