The Mag occurrence is located 4 kilometres north of Hawthorne Bay on the east side of Babine Lake.

The area is underlain by andesitic tuffs and breccias of the Lower to Middle Jurassic Telkwa Formation (Hazelton Group). These have been intruded by the northeast extension of the biotite-feldspar porphyry dike of the Eocene Babine Intrusions which occurs at the Granisle mine (092L 145) immediately to the south. Interbedded argillites and greywackes of the Lower to Middle Jurassic Nilkitkwa Formation (Hazelton Group) are exposed in a creek in the area. These sediments strike north and dip to the west at moderate angles.

Calcite veins, up to 30 centimetres in width, occur in a west-trending fracture zone cutting pyritic sedimentary rocks. The veins are mineralized with sphalerite, galena, pyrite and chalcopyrite. The showing quartz-carbonate vein hosting galena, sphalerite, chalcopyrite and minor pyrite which crosscuts the Hazelton rocks. The vein strikes 074 degrees and dips 75 degrees northeast.

HISTORY

The Trek Group of 100 claims was staked by Bethex Explorations Ltd. in March 1966. Geological and geophysical surveys were carried out. In 1967 the property was expanded to 126 claims. Magnetometer and induced potential surveys indicated several anomalous areas. Diamond drilling totalling 968. metres in 9 holes was carried out.

Canadian Superior Exploration Limited held the property as the Hag 1-64 claims in 1972. Work included an induced potential survey over 10 line-miles covering Hag 1-26 and 47-49, a magnetometer survey over 32 line-miles covering all claims, and a geochemical soil survey (874 samples) covering all claims.

The occurrence is located in the northwest corner of the Red 2 claims that existed from 1986 through to 1994. The showing is described in Assessment Report 24047. See 093L 208 for a history of the Red claims that later covered this occurrence.
