The Orion showing is located 5.5 kilometers northeast of the Parrott Lakes and 13 kilometers southwest of the Equity Silver (093L 001) deposit.

The area is underlain by Cretaceous to Tertiary Francois Lake Group rocks, mainly Upper Cretaceous Tip Top Hill Formation volcanics which are overlain by Eocene Goosly Lake Formation. The Tip Top Hill Formation is comprised mainly of andesite, andesitic to dacitic lavas and pyroclastics which are overlain by feldspathic andesite, trachyandesite lavas, breccias, sills and stocks of the Goosly Lake Formation (EMPR Bulletin 78, Figure 1).

Locally, a gabbro sill or stock intrudes Hazelton volcanics and a rhyolite breccia dome is located in the same area. Exposures of pyrite and massive sulfide float have been reported.

Work History

In 1967, North Pacific Mines completed a magnetic survey of the property and identified two anomalous areas. Some diamond drilling was completed on these zones, but no records are available. During 1968 through 1970, North Pacific Mines completed various programs of ground magnetometer surveys and geochemical sampling on the adjacent Doe Group.

In 2009, a program of rock sampling and a 1.6 line-kilometre induced polarization survey was completed on the area as the Gillian Silver property.

In 2017, Copper Mountain Mining Corp. completed a 40 line-kilometre airborne electromagnetic (ZTEM) survey on the area as the Goose 1 property. In 2020, Prosperity Exploration Corp. completed a 170 line-kilometre airborne electromagnetic (VTEM) survey on the area as the Silver Lake property.
