The quartz veins are 20 to 30 centimetres wide and dip steeply to the northeast, striking southeast, and contain mainly shattered pyrite with lesser amounts of sphalerite, galena, chalcopyrite and arsenopyrite. The host rocks are tuffs of the Lower Jurassic Telkwa Formation (Hazelton Group) which have a well-developed foliation of slatey cleavage which dips moderately to the northeast. Samples in 1922 assayed 44.6 grams gold per tonne and 343 grams per tonne silver. A grab sample in 1987 assayed 32.2 grams per tonne gold.

WORK HISTORY
In 1985, Teeshin Resources Ltd followed up on Noranda's geochemical/geological program with two holes on the Hawk-Gem vein zone. In 2000, Guardsmen Resources collected rock samples from the Hawk zone. a northwest trending quartz-sulphide vein (possible extension of Ptarmigan vein trend) assayed up to 4.16 grams per tonne gold with silver, bismuth, copper, lead, zinc, cadmium and iron plus moderate enrichment in arsenic and antimony (Assessment Report 26532).
